  1. Best Friends dogs in silhouette on hand coloured background C6 card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft addicts!

Well, I hope you have had a good week - it certainly has flown by! Today's card is one I have made with one of my hand painted background.

GC 2019 - Love and Friendship - 2 dogs having fun on hand painted backgroun

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all painted the background using various sparkly watercolour inks - from Stamps by Me Gossip range and also Crafter's Companion Sparkle range. As you can see from the photo, I used yellows, greens, blues, greys with darker colours for the trees in the middle of the card.
    • I left it to dry overnight and then trimmed it so it would fit the front of an A6 white card.
    • I then edged  it with a black alcohol marker.
    • I stuck it to the card using PVA glue, leaving a small border all around it.
    • I have had these Stylish Silhouettes (from Hunkydory) for ages and decided they would go well with this, so stuck the branch and three of the leaves descending from the top left hand side.
    • I then cut out the 2 dogs in black card (dies from the Fun and Frolics set from Tattered Lace  and the card from Lynda Chapman's World of Paper). I stuck them to the bottom of the card again with PVA glue.
    • I used the Best Friends sentiment from one of the Friends Forever stamp set from Rare Earth, stamped it onto some white card using Black ink, cut around it and added it to the top right hand corner with some foam pads.
  2. With love - |Unicorn in silhouette on fancy background A5 card

    Hi Craft addicts!

Today's handmade card is one I really enjoyed making as it combines a mix of dies, stamps, papers and Distress Crayons (for the background).

GC 2019 - Love and Friendship - Unicorn in silhouette on ornate frame and c

    How I made this card:-

    • I had cut out the fancy background mat and layer (from a Die set by Paper Boutique, Creative Crafting World) in an ivory/cream colour for the mat and Kraft card for the layer.
    • I glued them together using some PVA glue and put it aside until I had finished all the other things!
    • I cut a panel of the brown and cream checked striped paper (to be honest I can't remember where it came from) to fit the front of an A5 card and stuck it down using PVA glue.
    • I cut a strip of brown paper (from the Browns Colour Families 8" paper pad) and glued it to the bottom of an A5 card which I had used on its' side.
    • I then cut a scalloped circle (to fit inside the frame) in black card (Lynda Chapman's World of Paper) and another slightly smaller one in white card and glued them together.
    • I also cut out the  Unicorn in silhouette in black card (it is a Crafter's Companion die) and placed it over a panel of hand coloured card which I had made previously using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons (the pastel shades).
    • I cut around it trying to keep as close to the edge as possible.
    • I then stuck the Ornate frame on to the front of the card again using PVA glue and then added the black and white circles to that.
    • I added the Unicorn topper to the card, this time using foam pads as I wanted to have some dimension to it.
    • I also stamped the With Love sentiment from a collection by Hunkydory's For the Love of Stamps in black - it is in two parts - the scroll and sentiment) and I used Gina K's Black Amalgam ink to do this. When it was dry I stuck it to the bottom of the card in the middle.
    • Finally, I added 3 drops of Black Nuvo drops (from Tonic Studios) on either side of the sentiment and on some of the ornate frame.
  3. Winter Wishes Woman's head hand coloured square card

    Hi Craft addicts!

I hope you all had a great weekend and the days ahead will be good ones!!

I really enjoyed making this card and I hope you will too!

GC 2019 - Winter Wishes - Girl Head and shoulders hand coloured using penci

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all stamped the frame that comes in the Winter Stamp Collection from Sheena Douglass (from Create & Craft) onto some white stamping card - I used a Black ink - either Gina K Amalgam ink, Memento or Tonic ink will do as they all can cope with a mix of water/solvent based inks.
    • I then stamped the girl in the bottom left hand corner, trying to make her appear as if she is coming out of the sea again using the same ink.
    • I coloured her in using Chameleon pencils, trying to make the skin tones as realistic as possible.
    • Once I was happy with it, I then used various shades of blue pencils to create the background.
    • I also used a green alcohol pen to colour the edge of the frame and then edged it with a black alcohol marker.
    • I used one of the sentiments in the set (Winter Wishes) and stamped it twice in opposite corners using the same black ink.
    • I then used a Blue Altenew ink pad to add the swirly/flourish in the remaining corners.
    • Finally, I added the topper to the card using thin foam pads.
  4. You are on my mind... yellow poppies hand coloured 7x5in card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft addicts!

I had created the background some time ago - not quite sure what to use it for but then it came to me that the flowers looked liked poppies and so made this card... I have been thinking of creating it as a downloadable background paper -  so watch this space!

GC 2019 - Thinking of You - Orange and Yellow hand created background using

    How I made this card:-

    • To  make the background, I used yellow and orange and brown Tim Holtz Distress Crayons to create flower shapes on to some smooth paper (not Yupo this time), blending them in first with my fingers and then used paintbrush and some water to soften the edges even more - as you can imagine, each flower is different which adds a different dimension to them.
    • I cut out a frame in black pearlescent card (from Create & Craft) using the larger of the dies from Time for Tea.
    • I placed the frame over the background, glued it in place using some PVA glue and trimmed it to fit.
    • I used the same PVA glue to attach the whole thing to the front of a 5" x 7" card which I had turned on its' side so the fold was at the top.
    • I had cut the butterfly/moth out from black card ages ago and think it is a Tattered Lace die but I could be wrong.
    • I used a small amount of PVA glue along the body and stuck it at an angle in the top left hand corner.
    • For the sentiment, I used the You are On my Mind wording from the Amazing Sentiments collection from Creative Expressions.
    • I brushed an anti-static bag over some black card (Lynda Chapman's World of Paper, Creative Crafting World) and stamped the phrase on to it using Versamark ink (which is a sticky ink so it "grabs" the white embossing powder. I dusted any excess off and heat set it.
    • I then cut around it and placed the sentiment in the bottom right hand corner using foam pads.

And there you are - a card suitable for sending to someone to say you are thinking of them.
