  1. Winter Greetings.... bird in silhouette on Holly wreath shaped Kraft card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft addicts!

I have been playing with some dies from Tattered Lace and Paper Boutique along with some stamps and came up with this card - I hope you like it :)

GC 2019 - Christmas - Robin Winter Greetings on holly wreath shaped Kraft c

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all took a 5" Kraft card (already pre-scored) and placed the outer edge of the Seasons Greetings  Die set (from Paper Boutique from Creative Crafting World) on top of both layers, slightly offsetting it so that some of the die wasn't actually cutting the card.
    • Once it was cut ok, I then cut out the Holly Wreath frame in Green card and stuck it to the card with PVA glue.
    • I then trimmed the bottom of the card so that it stood up properly.
    • I also cut out two circles (one in black which is a Tattered Lace Deckle edged die) and the second in white which has a pin dot edge and again is a Tattered Lace die. I then glued them together with PVA glue.
    • The bird (which could be a Robin if you cut it out in white and coloured it in or even Brown and Red card) is also a Tattered Lace die and I stuck it in the middle of the card.
    • I then attached the whole topper to the middle of the card so that there was a narrow border around it.
    • Using Red and Green Nuvo Drops (from Tonic Studios), I added them to the edge of the white circle, alternating the colours.
    • Finally, I stamped the Winter Greetings sentiment (I think from Rare Earth) onto some white card using black ink, cut around it and placed it at the bottom of the card with a tape pen.
  2. Gnome hand drawn C6 Christmas card

    Hi Craft addicts!

I have been seeing these cute gnomes all over the place so thought I would have a go at drawing one myself - obviously it needs working on but it was great fun to do!

GC 2019 - Christmas - Christmas gnome hand drawn on C6 white card Merry Chr

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all drew the Gnome in pencil using various other ones as a basis for my design - I then outlined it with a fine liner pen to make it stand out.
    • I then coloured it in using blues, reds and greys alcohol markers not worrying to much about shading (apart from his beard).
    • I cut it out  close to the edge so I could use it as a topper.
    • I also cut out a Picot edged Oval using a Tattered Lace die and then a slightly smaller normal edged Oval one using another Tattered Lace die - I glued them together using some PVA glue.
    • Before attaching the oval to the front of a C6 white card, I used a scoreboard to score three lines (from the inside so it had an embossed feel) at the top and the bottom.
    • I realise now that I should have done the foiling part before adding the background and topper but hey ho... so anyway, I stuck them to the card again using PVA glue and added a small Christmas tree behind him.
    • I then used the new We R Memory Keepers Freestyle Foil Quill and placed some gold foil over the top of the card and foiled through the Furry and Bright stencil from Hunkydory's For the Love of Masks. I must admit it is a great tool and one I will be using more and more over the coming weeks!
    • I also stamped out the Merry Christmas sentiment on to some white card using Black Nuvo hybrid ink and cut around it - the sentiment is from Creative Expressions I think!
    • I edged it using a blue alcohol marker and stuck it to the bottom of the card using thick foam pads.
    • I decided that it needed something else so used a blue sparkle pen to add some glitter to the Gnome's hat and boots.
    • Finally, I added some white Gel pen spots to the tree and his hat.
  3. Winter Wishes Woman's head hand coloured square card

    Hi Craft addicts!

I hope you all had a great weekend and the days ahead will be good ones!!

I really enjoyed making this card and I hope you will too!

GC 2019 - Winter Wishes - Girl Head and shoulders hand coloured using penci

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all stamped the frame that comes in the Winter Stamp Collection from Sheena Douglass (from Create & Craft) onto some white stamping card - I used a Black ink - either Gina K Amalgam ink, Memento or Tonic ink will do as they all can cope with a mix of water/solvent based inks.
    • I then stamped the girl in the bottom left hand corner, trying to make her appear as if she is coming out of the sea again using the same ink.
    • I coloured her in using Chameleon pencils, trying to make the skin tones as realistic as possible.
    • Once I was happy with it, I then used various shades of blue pencils to create the background.
    • I also used a green alcohol pen to colour the edge of the frame and then edged it with a black alcohol marker.
    • I used one of the sentiments in the set (Winter Wishes) and stamped it twice in opposite corners using the same black ink.
    • I then used a Blue Altenew ink pad to add the swirly/flourish in the remaining corners.
    • Finally, I added the topper to the card using thin foam pads.
