  1. Trick or Treat Ghost Halloween C6 card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft Addicts!

Well today's blog is another Halloween card - I just love making these type of cards as they can be bright and cheerful and yet also dark and spooky! This one is a mix of the two I think... so read on if you want to know more...

GC 2019 - Halloween - Trick or Treat - grave at sunrise with ghost c6 card

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all created the background using Watercolour paints - mainly Oranges and yellows (with a hint of red) - I used white super smooth card rather than watercolour as I wanted a smooth surface.
    • I put it aside to dry overnight.
    • i then cut out the Trick or Treat die (from Tattered Lace) in black card (Lynda Chapman's World of Paper) - This is a Symphony die (it creates 2 parts of a scene) and I just used the Cemetery and spider part of it. It is a large die so you will need an A4 die cutting machine.
    • I trimmed the background scene so it measures approximately 2.5" x 4.5" and then stuck the Silhouette scene to it and trimmed it down.
    • I then edged it with a black alcohol marker to cover any of the white card and glued it to the top left hand side of the C6 card using PVA glue.
    • I then cut out the Trick or Treat sentiment (from Paper Boutique by Creative Crafting World) in Orange and its' mat in black and stuck them together again using PVA glue and attached it to the centre of the card.
    • I also cut out the Ghost (from Sweet Dixie) in white card and added a small piece of black card to behind its' face and attached it to the bottom right hand side of the card with foam pads.
    • Finally, I added some Black Nuvo drops to the bottom and right hand sides of the card.

And there you are a fun card that would be great to give for Halloween - you could also make invitations using the idea - you can buy it on my Website GC00008

  2. Happy Haunting - Owl on branch with coffin Halloween Card

    Hi Craft addicts!

I hope you had a great weekend! Today's card is one I had great fun making using mainly Sweet Dixie dies on a background I painted myself. If you want to read how I made it then just carry on reading!

GC 2019 - Halloween - Happy Haunting owl, bats and coffin on hand painted b

    How I made this card:-

    • I used Sparkle watercolour inks from Spectrum Noir to create the background (mainly blues and greens for the sky and the grass) and left it to dry.
    • Whilst it was drying, I cut out the Owl several times (from the Moonlit Owl and Bats Die set from Sweet Dixie) in black card (Lynda Chapman's World of Paper).
    • I also cut out the Coffin (from Sweet Dixie again, this time their Filigree Coffin set) and the Happy Haunting sentiment (from the Happy Haunting set), all in black card.
    • Once the background was dry, I stuck it to front of an A5 white (landscape style) - the fold is already at the side rather than the top). I used PVA glue but you could use a wet glue such as Collall too.
    • I then stuck the Owl on to the top of the left hand side, again using PVA glue.
    • I wanted to give it some dimension, so I glued the Owl to some Kraft card and cut around it, stuck it to another of the black die-cuts and then added it to the existing Owl using foam pads.
    • I used PVA glue to attach the Coffin to some Orange card, cut around it and added it to the bottom right hand corner with some foam pads.
    • I also used PVA glue to create the sentiment, sticking it to the same Orange card as the Coffin, cut around it in an irregular way, stuck that to some black card, cut around that using the edge of the orange card.
    • As the Coffin was slightly raised, I used a double layer of foam pads on the left hand side of the sentiment and single one on the right and added it to the card over the Coffin.
    • Finally, I added some more bats to teh scene to create a bit more atmosphere.

And there you are, a bright and cheerful but spooky card for Halloween - you can buy it here on my website GC00007. After I had made it, I did think this would make a great scene for a Box frame or MDF plaque...

Products you may need to make this project:-

    • A5 Landscape white card with envelope - Lynda Chapman's World of Paper from Creative Crafting World
    • Sweet Dixie Filigree Coffin die set
    • Sweet Dixie Happy Haunting die set
    • Sweet Dixie Moonlit Owl with bats die set
    • Sparkle Watercolour ink bottles from Spectrum Noir from Crafter's Companion (Blues and Greens)
    • Black cardstock - Lynda Chapman's is great for die cutting
    • Orange cardstock - I used the Citrus Burst set from the Core Collection from Create & Craft
    • Kraft card
    • Collall All Purpose glue
    • Cosmic Shimmer or Glue it Glue (Pinflair)
    • Foam pads
    • Die cutting Machine - I used my Baby Blue (3" mouth) for most of these items - the only one I needed a larger machine for was the Owl die - A5 or A4 machines will do such as the Gemini Junior and Snap machine for A5 or Gemini and Cut n Boss for A4
  3. Boo! Skulls and candles 7x5in black card with white insert

    Hi Craft addicts!

Still having great fun making cards for Halloween and here is the latest  one - very simple to make but is quite stylish (in a ghoulish sort of way).... To find out how I made it look below the pic!

GC 2019 - Halloween - BOO, Boo skull and crossbones 7x5in black card - PB,

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all used the Spider's Web stamp from the Haunted House Stamp set from Rare Earth and stamped it directly on to each corner of a 5" x 7" black card (from the Core Collection by Create & Craft) using Versamark ink. I had used an Anti-static bag first to get rid of any grease etc.
    • I then covered the webs in Silver Embossing Powder and heat set them.
    • Once I had completed them all, I putto one side as I needed to cut out the Skulls circle frame out - this is the main die from Lynda Chapman's Paper Boutique Love the Bones of You set from Creative Crafting World.
    • I cut it out in white card and attached it to the centre of the card using PVA glue.
    • I then stamped out the Skull (with the candle) on to some white card using Gina K Obsidian Black ink and coloured it in using grey and a yellow alcohol markers. The stamp is from the Hubble Bubble set again from Rare Earth.
    • I felt it needed some form of sentiment so I stamped out the Boo on to some white card 3 times using Versamark ink and like the Spiders Webs, added some Silver Embossing Powder and heat set them.
    • I cut around them and stuck them to the Skull frame circle using PVA glue.
    • Finally, I added some foam pads to the Skull and Candle topper and placed it in the middle of the card.
    • I also added a white insert inside so there was room for a message.

And there you are a spooky card for Halloween that is simple to make!

  4. Chills and Thrills Owl themed Halloween card

I had great fun making this card and it is quite simple to make - just a few dies, a stamp and some inks! So if you want to find out how I made it... read on!

GC 2019 - Halloween - Chills n Thrills owl on branch on hc bg c6 card - RE,

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all cut out the Moonlit Owl and Bats dies (from Sweet Dixie) in black card (Lynda Chapman's World of Paper).
    • I also cut out the Raven in black card from the Gravestone set, again from Sweet Dixie.
    • Using shades of Green inks (ink cubes/pads from Rare Earth, Tim Holtz Distress inks and Prism inks), I created an Ombre background effect.
    • I trimmed it so that it fitted an C6 white card (allowing for a narrow border all around), edged it with a black alcohol marker and attached it using PVA glue.
    • Once that was done, I then added some PVA glue to the back of the main topper and stuck it to the top of the card (some of the branches do hang over the side of the card).
    • I then stuck the bats, moon, clouds on to the card where I thought they would look right.
    • I used the Chills & Thrills stamp sentiment from Rare Earth's 6" Spooky Sentiments set and stamped it out on to some white card using Gina K's Obsidian Black ink.
    • I cut it out and then glued it to the bottom of the card and added another of the ravens to the C of Chills again with PVA glue.

And there you are, a really fun card that could be great to give for Halloween (you can also buy it in my shop GC00004).
