  1. Just for you... Stags in wood 6in square card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft addicts!

I really enjoyed making this card as it uses a variety of techniques - from stamping to embossing!

GC 2019 - Just for you - Deer in forest silhouette with swirl embossed bg 6

    How I made this card:-

    • I took a piece of white stamping card (you could also use watercolour card) and used a variety of distress/dye based inks to create a sky scene blending them in as well as possible.
    • I then cut out the stag and forest scene in black card (it is a Tattered Lace Symphony die I think).
    • I separated  them and glued the scene on the background using PVA glue.
    • I took another piece of white card and this time passed it through an electronic cutting machine with the Ribbon Swirls 3D embossing folder from Creative Expressions.
    • It is incredible how deep the embossing is, and I used a blue ink pad to rub gently over the swirls to it highlighted the different levels.
    • I cut it to fit the front of a 6" square card (with a narrow border all around it) and stuck it with PVA to it.
    • Using some foam pads, I added the forest scene to the bottom right hand corner and then used the foam pads and glue to add the stag to the left hand side.
    • Finally, I used a Just for You sentiment stamp (I am not sure which Company it is from), stamped it onto some white card with Gina K Black Amalgam ink.
    • I cut around it, giving it a cloud effect - I then coloured it with a pale blue ink pad and then edged it with a blue alcohol marker.
    • Finally, I glued it to the top left hand corner with PVA and added some blue Nuvo drops to various places.

  2. Have a wonderful day flower bud small gift card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft addicts!

Today's card is a small A7 one that could be used as a greetings card or even a gift tag on that special present!

GC 2019 - Birthdays - Have a wonderful day flower bud alcohol inks A7 white

    How I made this card:-

    • I first off created the background which I made using a variety of alcohol inks - predominately from Tim Holtz Ranger set.
    • I took a peice of A5 Yupo paper (it is a recycled environmentally friendly paper that is great for alcohol ink) and added greens, reds and blues to it until I was happy with the design.
    • I left it overnight as I wanted to look at it afresh and when I did I saw that one particular spot looked like an abstract red flower bud with leaves so I took a small rectangle and cut it out.
    • I attached it to the front of a small white card (in this case it is A7) using PVA glue.
    • I then took a leaf stamp from of Crafter's Companion Blooming Hydrangas set and stamped it either side of the topper using a Green ink cube (Altenew, Rare Earth or Tim Holtz would be perfect).
    • I then stamped the Have a Wonderful day sentiment (from the same set as the leaf) at the bottom of the card using Gina K Black Amalgam ink.

  3. Happy Birthday Sunflower on hand coloured background C6 card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft Addicts!

Today's card is a mix of dies, stamps and Pixie Powder style powders and together they make a really stylish Birthday card...

GC 2019 - Birthdays - Sunflower on hand coloured bg frame C6 white cards Ha

    How I made this card:-

    • I had been playing (I seem to be doing a lot of that recently) with some Pixie Powders (from Creative Expressions) and Lynette Jasper's Pretty Gets Gritty Explosion Powders and I rreally liked how this background turned out.
    • To create the background, I tapped various colours on to some white card and then spritzed some water on top of it and allowed it to spread. I repeated the process until I was happy with the result.
    • I let it dry and then cut out the middle sized die from the Noel Frames set from Sweet Dixie.
    • I had cut out this Sunflower die (from Tattered Lace) ages ago in white card and coloured it in using Zig Clean Color pens - Yellows, Oranges and Greens predominately. You can of course colour it in using Alcohol markers, watercolour paints etc.
    • I trimmed the stalk a bit as i wanted it to fit the frame and then attached it using PVA glue.
    • I then stuck the whole panel on to the front of a C6 white card (so many Companies produce these such as Hunkydory and Lynda Chapman's World of Paper from Creative Crafting World).
    • I wanted it to have a sentiment so used the Happy Birthday stamp from For the Love of Stamps (Hunkydory) Sweet Sentiments set and stamped it on to a pre-cut circle in white card using Black Gina K Amalgam ink.
    • I cut out a flower in black card, stuck the sentiment to it and then added it to the bottom right hand corner with PVA glue and then trimmed it so it didn't overhang.
    • Finally, I added 3 drops of Black Nuvo Drops (from Tonic Studios) to the top left hand corner and some more into the centre of the flower.

And there you are - a quick and easy Birthday card that is bright and cheerful.

  4. Have a Purrfect Birthday ..... handmade card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft Addicts!

I have been playing with using various textured cardstock and came up with this cute little card - I hope you like it!

GC 2019 - Birthdays - Have a purrfect birthday cat looking over fence 4in c

    How I made this card:-

    • I wanted to use some old cardstock up and decided that I would try out different textures to create a Birthday Card.
    • I first of all took the Purrfect die and stamp from the latest range by Crafter's Companion and placed both the outline die of the cat and the sentiment next to each other on some white card, taped them down and cut them out.
    • Then I trimmed either side of it to fit the front of a 4in white card.
    • I coloured the top 2/3rds of the card (which is a linen effect  one) with Salty Ocean Distress Inks from Tim Holtz/Ranger and then a darker blue from Altenew. I blended  them in unti I was happy with the result.
    • I then took a piece of dark Green Hammered card and tore it so that there was a uneven top and stuck it ot the bottom half of the card using PVA glue and then trimmed it to fit.
    • I used Brown and Beige alcohol markers to colour in the cat and when it was dry, trimmed the bottom part so there was a narrow border and stuck it to the middle of the card with PVA glue.
    • I used the Have a and Birthday stamps from the same set as the dies and stamped them on to some white card using a Black permanent ink (such as Gina K Amalgam ink or Memento), cut around them and placed them in opposite corners using a tape pen.
    • Finally,i added some bird shapes to the sky using a Black fineliner pen.
