  1. Flower spray 5in card - no message

    Posted on

    Hi Craft Addicts!

I have been experimenting with clear embossing powder on black card and came up with this flower themed blank 5in card - if you want to know how I made it then read on!

GC 2019 - Blank no message - Flower spray hand coloured with pencil on blac

    How I made this card:-

    • I had created this jagged edged square background layer on my Brother Scan n Cut and I cut it out using Lynda Chapman's Black card - it measures about 4" if you are interested!
    • I dusted it with an anti-static bag to get rid of any dirt/grease and then stamped the floral spray (from Stamps by Me by Toni Darroch but doesn't have a name on the packaging) on to it using Versamark ink and then added Clear embossing powder (i used Stamps Away) and heat set it.
    • As it is quite tricky to see the outline, you do need to place it in a good light to work out where to add the colour - I used Crafter's Companion's Colour Blends Essentials set of pencils from Spectrum Noir to do this.
    • I then glued to the front of a 5" white card using PVA glue.
    • I could have added a sentiment but wanted to highlight the flowers used so stamped one of the smaller images in the set on to a circle (a Tattered Lace die) of white card using Tonic Studios Nuvo Black ink and colouredit in using a Pink alcohol marker (a Tri-blend pen from Spectrum Noir again) - these are useful as you have the 3 different shades of the same colour all in one place.
    • I also used one of their green ones to colour the stem and leaves.
    • I used PVA glue to attach it to the bottom right hand corner.
  2. Hello, Thank You and Just to Say set of 5 cards

    Hi Craft Addicts!

Today's cards are very easy to make but would make a great present or you can send them to people just to say you are thinking of them!

GC 2019 sets - Hello and Thank you set of 5 A6 cards - with diamond bg and

    How I made these cards:-

    • All these cards are made in the same way so won't bore you with each individual one but will concentrate on one - the Hello card on the bottom right hand side....
    • I used DoCrafts Xcut self adhesive papers to make the background layers - they are a mx of encapsulated glitter and mirror and cut 5 out using the largest of the diamond die from Toni Darroch's Stamps by Me Artistic Mounts - Diamond die set.
    • I removed the backing paper slowly and place the diamond towards the top of an C6 white card (some are traditional side fold but others are top fold). Once the whole thing was on, I then used the backing paper to burnish them down so they were stuck securely.
    • I had cut out a lot of flowers using Tattered Lace and Tonic Studios dies (both black and white) and decided to use them as decorations for these cards, so glued them to the diamond with PVA glue - you have to make sure that the glue grabs on the glitter paper but I haven't had any problems with it to be honest.
    • I then stamped the sentiments either on the right hand or left hand side using a variety of Companies stamps - I used Gina K Black Amalgam ink as it creates a clean image.

As mentioned above, the principle of making these cards are the same and are very easy to make - why not give them in a box with a set of stamps so that someone can send them?

  3. Set of 5 mixed sentiment gift cards

    Hi Craft addicts!

Well, the sun is shining a bit and so I thought I would write about how I made these rainbow themed set of 5 small cards - all hand painted and with a variety of sentiments on the front...

Gift Tags or small cards 2019 - Rainbow themed small 4in cards set of 5 in

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all painted 5 different rainbow patterns on to some white card - you can use watercolour card but I used Hunkydory's Ink me card as I wanted a smooth surface!
    • I tried to keep each of the rainbow patterns so that they fitted on the front of the card.
    • Once they were all dry, I cut them out with an irregular pattern - must admit a couple of them are die cuts but I can't remember what ones they are - think they are Tattered Lace and Tonic but could be wrong.
    • I then used a variety of sentiments and after using an Anti-static bag over some black card, I stamped them on to it using Versamark ink and then heat embossed them.
    • I edged all of the backgrounds with a black alcohol marker so they stood out a bit and stuck them to the fronts of each of the cards using PVA glue.
    • I also cut the sentiments out, again using an irregular pattern and stuck each of them to the front of the card again using PVA glue.

And there you are a set of 5 small cards that could be a gift (especially if you include some stamps) or just for your own use.

  4. Smile... Bird and a teacup with butterflies.... 7x5in card

    Posted on

    Hi Craft addicts!

Today's card is very much out of my comfort zone as I am not really a Pinky sort of person... but I did enjoy using the Sue Bake dies and stamps... To read how I made it look beneath the photo!

GC 2019 - Just Because - Smile Teatime bird and cup and saucer on 7x5in cre

    How I made this card:-

    • I first of all die cut the Bird and teacup image (Sue Baker's Bird and Blossoms Die and Stamp set - Tea Time) out twice, once in black card (Lynda Chapman's World of Paper) and another in white. It is a large die so you will need a larger die-cutting machine (A5 up)
    • I then coloured the white piece in using alcohol markers ( you can of course colour it in any way you want!)
    • I used a sheet of 8" pink paper (from the Colour Families paper pad range from Hunkydory) and trimmed it to fit the front of a 5" x 7" cream card (available from Create & Craft's Core Collection), leaving a narrow border all around it.
    • I stuck this down to the front of the card using a tape pen (I didn't use a wet glue as it sometimes shows through the card).
    • I used a PVA glue to stick the black topper to the card (towards the top of it) and then added the coloured in one to it slightly offsetting it so you can see some of the black.
    • I had also cut out two of the butterflies that come in the set in black and pink and added the black ones first to the card and then added the pink one on top of them as I thought they would get lost if I just used the latter.#
    • I stamped the Smile sentiment (from the same set) on to some black card using Versamark ink (having previously dusted the card with an anti-static pad), added some True White Embossing powder to it and then heat set it.
    • I cut it out in an oval wavy shape and then added it to the bottom right hand corner with some foam pads.
    • Finally, I added some black Nuvo Jewel drops to the left hand corner to balance it out.
